After suffering yesterday whole day rain, today is a sunny and cloudy day. Continuing on SH30 before it eventually merge with SH1 all the way to Lake Taupo. Even though the traffic is heavy but the smooth road with a wide shoulder, and the scenic views making up for another good day. Arriving in Taupo around 4pm and it started to rain a little while i took shelter at  Countdown supermarket and bought some camp foods. Today in Taupo also saw many cyclists took part in a Taupo Challenge ride around the lake for a distance of 160km. When I pass by i saw many cyclists still crossing the finish line,I too making a U-turn and rode along some of them to cross the finishing line to the cheers of many spectators around. My intention is just for fun,but instead i was presented with a finishing medal. What a big surprise!! After hanging at the event field for a while,i rode off to my intended free campground just down the road next to the lake.

The weather forecast for today is rainy,so myself and Eva roll out early at 8am after saying goodbye to our host Helen and David. Back to the main road of SH2 and then a left turn into route 36 ,highly recommended by Helen. It was all the way climbing gradually with a mixing of some rolling ups and downs. Eva was doing fine always going in front of me while I happily following behind her.The rain started at about 10am and we came to our 1st rest stop in Tect All Terrain Park clocking 38km,Eva changed  from a short to a long pant to avoid the cold from the rain.We have our lunch in Rotorua Cambodian restaurant, being hungry I ordered a fried fish, chicken meat cake and a short black for 9 nzd . From here we parted each other as Eva has an appointment with another WS and I will ride further to another free campsite on road SH 30 on the way to Lake Taupo. Stopping by an Indian supermarket to buy some groceries and a bag of tobacco for a total of 47 nzd. But the rain didn't look like stopping, and the chill from the rain really got into me as i started to look for an emergency wild camp. When i saw a bus stop with just enough space for my tent,i quickly grabbed the opportunity as it is really hard to find a roof by the roadside here.It feel so much better when you changed to a dry clothing, boiled up a bowl of maggi mee and a cup of hot coffee resting in your comfort sleeping bag inside your tent. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
