Day 01 Wed 16/11 - Long Flight to Auckland Transit in Gold Coast

My AirAsiaX flight departed from Kuala Lumpur (Klia2) at 11.10pm. Thanks my tea tarik kaki good friend SH Sim giving me a lift to the airport about 40min drive from Subang Jaya.As usual I weighted my bike box and check-in luggages at the check-in counter, which I had prebooked for 20kg each, the bike box recorded 22.5kg while the other is 18kg with another handcarry for 9.5kg ( its ok although the max is 7kg). Knowing very well they will charge 2.5kg extra weight on the bike box (sport equipment), so I open up the box and transferred my 20" wheelset including the tire and tube into the other bag, everything went smoothly and the plane took off 15 min late due to the extra security at the boarding by NZ personnel.Arriving in Gold Coast airport by 9.30am ( AEST is 2 hr ahead of Malaysia) , needed to walk down the staircase with my bag and then headed to the International Transit for another scanning before walking back to the same plane with the same seat number. The plane took off again at 10.30am with a new set of cabin crews and landed at Auckland on schedule by 4.40pm. The security at the custom and immigration were tight especially with my large luggage, scanning after scanning, questions after questions, the only good thing is they didn't ask is to open the bike box. Finally by 7pm i was relief and happy on my way out. Waited at Door3 for about 20min for my classmate Mew Lin to pick me to his home in Manurewa about 20 min drive from Airport.Mew Lin's wife and mother-in-law were from the same town in Kuala Kangsar and we have a nice conversation about the past from the Japanese occupation, the good old school days to the present days of Kuala Kangsar, the royal town of Perak. After a simple delicious home cooked dinner of chicken, tofu, vegetable and pork soup, the effect of jet-lag started to get the better of me  and i went straight to bed .

Thank you SH Sim for the lift to Airport
Foods banned from entering NZ, fine NZD 400

My host in Auckland Mew Lin and wife Lee Chin both from Kuala Kangsar.Thank you so much for the great hospitality
