Today's ride was only a short distance and full of drama. My target was actually trying to get to Tauranga which is 83 km or at least near to it. The weather continues fine with 3 consecutive days of my riding.Started at 8.30am after bidding goodbye to another camp mate from Germany who was driving around NZ for 4 months . Arriving in Waihi about noon time and spent nearly 2 hours in the library to recharge my laptop, power bank, camera, and smartphone, besides charging, they provide free internet too. When i was about to leave the library, the 1st mishap struck when i found that my bike meter cable was damaged by the movable handle stem, there is a bike shop around the corner so i went there to enquire and agreed to buy a new one for 35 nzd + 5 workmanship, and the owner treated me a cappuccino just opposite the shop with just the name card. After about 20 min the boss came and told me the meter wire is too short for my handlebar, the wireless one is too expensive to consider either. The boss recommended a motor shop nearby where they can do soldering, the mechanic managed to solder the snapped wires for a fee of 5 nzd, good job that saved me 35 nzd. The 2nd mishap struck when i realised that i was on the wrong direction after cycling for 8 km, when i noticed that same Cafe train station, silly me, so I quickly making a U turn and heading back to Waihi and luckily there is a free camping in the Memorial RSA, a hard ground at the back of the RSA Restaurant. Permission granted and a tap at the back of the restaurant to do my washing and a nice shower. What a Day that end in a Happy note.
