Decision made not going to Queenstown and all the way south to Invercargill cos' for 2 months you can't cover every corners of NZ. I slept well yesterday on a comfortable bed of Holly's Backpackers and woke up later than usual to prepare my breakfast and packed lunch. Rolled out at 10 morning , the normal checkout time of backpackers in NZ.The weather looks cloudy and foretasted to be raining, but I rolled out anyway, back tracking 3km back to SH6 on direction to Cromwell. Surprisingly the weather was cooling and became really hot with temp rose up to 40c,this region of Otago looks very dry with wide barren land and no trees, but saw many vineyards and berries growing . Another plus point is,I am enjoying a strong tailwind which really makes today's ride enjoyable. Stopping in Cromwell for lunch break and boiled a cup of black coffee under a tree . From Cromwell crossing a bridge to SH 8 on direction to Dunedin. Arriving my intended free camp by 4pm - Champagne Gully with a toilet, dustbins and picnic tables by the side of beautiful Lake Dunstan,my best free camp so far.Another good day to shout about, good weather, wonderful tailwind ride and end up in a beautiful free camp.
My breakfast before set off

On the way to Cromwell but no Queenstown

Abandoned car decorated for the coming X'mes

My lunch break of bread with peanut butter and jam, and a cup of black coffee

Taking route 8B to Cromwell and Dunedin

Land of cherries growing here

And vineyards

Next town is Alexander

Arrived at my targeted Free camp

Beautiful lake side

Quiet and calm but wind storm was about to come

I don't think this tent can withstand the wind storm

More and more campers come to stay here

A toilet on the right with flush water and tissues

My tripod was used to support the tent and one of its leg was broken with the fierce wind
